Wireless smart home solution xComfort

xComfort Communication interfaces & routers

Simple expansion of smart home solution  is one of the keys in Eaton philosophy for xComfort. To make this happen the xComfort portfolio also include solutions which enable the easy integration of xComfort into a third party system. Through this it will leverage the 3th party system to offer more value, based on the powerful xComfort devices, to the customers. Furthermore solution are available to eliminate the technical barriers which are common for wireless communication like the range of the wireless communication and communication in areas with metal containing floors or walls.

xComfort RF system

Core features

  • Easy expandable
  • Interface and API for xComfort integration in 3rd party systems
  • Communication Interface available for Ethernet, USB or RS232
  • Supports routing via LAN network possible, e.g. for situation wireless communication is not possible (metal containing walls or floors) or preferred
  • xComfort wireless network range extension with a in flush-box mountable xComfort Router

Router

The router is used to extend the xComfort RF Network on places where no Actuator (which also have the router functionality) is needed or installed. This generation Router is characterized particularly by its small dimensions and enhanced functionality. The device can be mounted in boxes for switches, in branch-off boxes or standard installation boxes.

Ethernet Communication Interface ECI

The ECI, Ethernet Communication Interface, connects the xComfort wireless network to the Ethernet (LAN). The ECI can be easy configured to support the required application.

The main use of the ECI are:

  • Control and connect xComfort RF devices using LAN. This application is typically interesting for a system integration for 3rd party applications to use Ethernet to interconnect with the xComfort RF devices. But also used to extend the xComfort network when the xComfort SHC is used.
  • Routing of connections between xComfort RF devices over Ethernet (min. 2 ECI are necessary).  This is used where wireless communication is difficult, for example through floors or walls that contain metal or longer distance needs to covered.

USB Communication Stick

The USB Communication Stick allows integration of xComfort with 3rd party applications using either based on a USB interface. This CI device is designed as a USB stick which can be directly plugged into the 3rd party controller without additional cables. The Application Programming Interface (API) description for easy integration, to leverage the maximum benefit from the Comfort devices, is available on requested.

Communication Interface USB/RS232

The Communication Interface allows integration of xComfort with 3rd party applications using either based on a USB or RS232 interface. The CI USB/RS232 device is connected via a cable offering flexibility where to position the CI device. The Application Programming Interface (API) description for easy integration, to leverage the maximum benefit from the Comfort devices, is available on requested.
