Ensuring compliance with the EU Radio Equipment Directive (RED), Eaton is introducing bidirectional control and communication to its entire Security radio portfolio. Innovating beyond the directive's requirements, a number of improvements have been made to further upgrade the Scantronic experience for both installers and end users. This innovation can be summarised into four categories:
The panel confirms transmissions from devices, eliminating the need for repeated signals, thereby reducing power consumption and extending battery life.
Devices can switch between three channels to avoid interference, ensuring strong signal strength.
Simultaneous communication between multiple devices reduces latency times, thereby shortening the time required to silence sounders when disabling alarms.
Integrate SSR devices into existing systems, thanks to backwards compatibility mode (selectable by switch/jumper), avoiding the need for a complete overhaul.
Devices’ built-in audio/visual indicators keep you informed, signalling learning attempts and completion, ensuring that you are pairing the correct device.
Radio keypads can now communicate with the panel directly, removing the need to install base stations and improving the overall aesthetic.
Audio/visual indicators quickly identify malfunctioning devices, streamlining the fault-finding process and reducing downtime.
Schedule firmware updates without a need for site visits. Devices remain compliant with evolving standards.
View device battery life at the panel, and determine systems' signal strength quickly using colour coded device LEDs (red, amber, green).
Quickly view the battery health of all SSR devices straight from the keypad, preventing any emergency callouts for unexpected battery failures.
Manually activate device audio/visual indicators to quickly identify products and eliminate confusion.
In survey mode, built-in device LEDs clearly indicate the signal strength, guaranteeing installers’ confidence in their choice of location before any fixings are installed.
