Versatile power solutions for semiconductor industry - Eaton

Power stability, energy conservation and maintaining high yields - Eaton’s power management solutions help semiconductor businesses meet growing operational challenges and needs

Versatile Power Solutions for Semiconductor Industry

Quality semiconductors are the building blocks of modern electronics. With applications spanning countless industries - from smartphones and tablets to military systems and automotives - demand for semiconductors continues to soar.

As the market continues to grow rapidly, semiconductor companies today are facing immense pressure to manage multiple organizational priorities and trade-offs. With increasing yields, semiconductor foundries cannot afford any power disruptions on their production lines.

How do we maintain a stable power supply to ensure high performance, timely delivery and long production?

Disruptions and damaged equipment are costly to business operations - how do we ensure we minimize this?

In an industry with high electricity consumption, how do we conserve energy and reduce our environmental impact?

These are questions that semiconductor companies are juggling with to keep their businesses afloat and future-proof.

Eaton’s power management technologies and services are dedicated to addressing these industry challenges. Here’s how we can help.

Maximize efficiency with Eaton’s patented ESS Efficient Mode

With semiconductors, every second counts. Eaton’s Energy Saver System (ESS) Efficient Mode automatically performs high-speed transition in less than 2 milliseconds, thanks to ready-state modules control, fast detection, and transition control technologies.

Coupled with the active harmonic reduction system (HRS) of the UPS inverter, the fast transition of the ESS mode ensures the safety of load power supply, while correcting the interference of the harmonics generated by the load on the main power.

Save energy and the environment with EAA Energy Management System

Manufacturing equipment accounts for more than 70% of a plant’s power consumption. Our patented technology reduces UPS power consumption , thanks to our ESS operating mode and Energy Advantage Architecture (EAA) energy management system.

The EAA system lowers the heat dissipation of the UPS itself, thereby requiring less energy from cooling systems like air conditioning - reducing overall electricity consumption altogether; while ESS allows the UPS to provide 99% efficiency across the entire operating range typically down to 20%.

Prevent costly downtime and power disruptions

Power interruption or degradation can adversely impact key equipment and the entire precision production process. Power failure of equipment directly leads to wafer loss - and restarting the entire production process takes at least four hours.

Eaton’s third-generation UPS uses the most advanced control technology in the power industry, classified as mechanical-grade, to reduce the frequency of such interruptions and degradation. We are ahead of the first and second generation UPS in most mainstream semiconductor manufacturers.

A stable power supply saves time on repairs and restarting production, and minimizes costs of replacing damaged equipment.
