Expanding the ecosystem through partnership: Cybersecurity Tech Accord

An increasingly connected world needs trusted environments. Yet, a system is only as secure as its weakest link. Supporting secure connectivity is the most important first step in our industry’s ongoing marathon to harness the full potential of the IIoT.  With 95 percent of CIOs expecting cybersecurity threats to increase and impact their organizations, the need for partnerships across industries and communities to innovate and build safer and more secure technologies is essential.

Cybersecurity collaboration unites industries, government and community

We see an essential need for a global conformance assessment standard for cybersecurity. Connected products must be validated with global standards that can be applied across industries. It’s essential for all of us—businesses, communities and governments—to work together to share best practices and pioneer a collection of global cybersecurity standards. 

As a member of the Tech Accord, we plan to share our industry insights and cybersecurity best practices while continuing to innovate how we can reduce risk for our customers. The Cybersecurity Tech Accord’s focused effort to protect and empower people to improve security fundamentally aligns with our approach to cybersecurity. For example, we share the following core values:

1. A deep commitment to protect. We see cybersecurity as a critical necessity, not just a requirement.
2. Opposition to cyberattacks and evolving threats.
3. Focus on empowering customers to strengthen cybersecurity by providing information that helps them understand current and future threats better, so they can protect themselves.
4. Emphasis on partnerships to enhance cybersecurity. We actively engage with industries, standards organizations and academia to develop best practices in cybersecurity. We’re advancing standards with UL and the International Electrotechnical Committee (IEC), and working with ANSI, the NEMA Cybersecurity Council and IEEE to enhance cybersecurity. 

Global effort targets secure online environments

Cybersecurity is a critical capability for supporting our hyper-connected and digital future. Today, cyberattacks are more frequent, sophisticated and autonomous than ever before. Late last year, the United Nations (UN) renewed focus on cybersecurity and the role of government, industry and community in building a peaceful and stable online world. The Cybersecurity Tech Accord supports this effort and as member, we’re demonstrating our commitment to strengthen cybersecurity and sharing the best practices we’ve developed on how to act securely and safely online.
