Driven by rises in high-performance and cloud computing, storage, and virtualization, power management continues to be a significant opportunity for data centers. But it's not only robust enterprise applications that require power management—even the smallest networks with one UPS system need to be monitored and managed—whether locally or remotely.

Deploying Eaton's versatile power management solutions to a single UPS or an entire network of devices enhances network efficiency and boosts continuity, resulting in mitigated risk, less downtime and lower operating costs.

Take control of monitoring, security and management with our power management software, with solutions that fit the needs of every application.

Home labber

The home labber often only has one or a few UPS systems to monitor from one central location, whether that's their home or small office, gaming setup or home theater. By gaining insight into power surges and fluctuations, users can focus on tasks at hand without worrying about potential power-related issues.

Peer-to-peer monitoring

The simplest solution that requires no additional equipment or software, peer-to-peer monitoring takes advantage of serverless networking technology that allows network devices to share resources and communicate directly with each other.

  • Local monitoring via hardwire connection (USB, Ethernet, serial)
  • Eaton UPSs include built-in monitoring software

Cloud-connected UPS systems

Eaton’s Tripp Lite series cloud-connected UPS systems are manageable, scalable and flexible solutions for battery backup, surge protection and cloud-based remote monitoring. Remote management using a mobile app or web browser saves the time, hassle and expense of frequent on-site visits.

  • Built-in cloud connectivity removes the need for additional hardware
  • Easy set up and commissioning via included QR code or web address
  • Near-field communication (NFC) facilitates easy transfer of network settings from an app-enabled mobile device

Gigabit network management card

Eaton’s Gigabit Network Card (Network-M3) expertly blends power management with market-leading cybersecurity. Compatible with multiple Eaton power management solutions, it provides extensive automation and remote management insights that shorten response times to power issues.

  • Monitoring capabilities that improve visibility of infrastructure power
  • Far-reaching UPS/ATS management capabilities
  • Time-saving automation of updates, response actions and other tasks
  • Enhanced safety and protection

Lone IT pro

The lone IT pro has more than a single desktop to monitor, but usually not multiple locations. In small offices, retail, healthcare, education and more, there may be a single professional responsible for maintaining uptime and mitigating risk and may need to monitor and manage devices across the facility.

Network team

Remote management and monitoring are essential for the network team to ensure uninterrupted operations and to mitigate risk efficiently across a network of devices, from 10 devices to thousands. By proactively monitoring power conditions, you can enhance network reliability, minimize disruptions and reduce onsite maintenance needs, ensuring business continuity.

Distributed IT Performance Management (DITPM)

DITPM is a powerful software tool that allows users to monitor power devices including PDUs and UPS systems, as well as generators and larger PDUS, regardless of their location, enabling insight into what is happening across distributed infrastructure—from a few locations to thousands.

  • Automate device response and/or shutdown during critical power events or environmental stress conditions
  • Reduce truck rolls and the need for on-site, non-IT staff to help troubleshoot equipment issues
  • Gain 7x24 insight into equipment performance, enabling you to remotely power cycle devices and remotely diagnose and take proactive corrective action when needed

Remote Monitoring Service

Formerly known as PredictPulse, the Remote Monitoring Service equips you with a team of power experts that remotely monitors your Eaton UPSs around the clock, ready to act for you when unexpected issues arise, eliminating the need to dispatch technicians and expediting repairs when needed.

  • First cloud-based analytics service for data center infrastructure to predict the failure of power components
  • New wireless solution makes set up easier and more secure than traditional email servers
  • Reduce risk and mitigate downtime with real-time critical alarms and predictive analytics

Cloud-connected UPS systems

Eaton’s Tripp Lite series cloud-connected UPS systems are manageable, scalable and flexible solutions for battery backup, surge protection and cloud-based remote monitoring. Remote management via mobile app or browser makes them an ideal addition to distributed IT locations consisting of 20+ UPSs, eliminating the need for onsite service visits across multiple locations.

  • Built-in cloud connectivity removes the need for additional hardware
  • Easy set up and commissioning via included QR code or web address
  • Near-field communication (NFC) facilitates easy transfer of network settings from an app-enabled mobile device

DIYer

There are many ways to monitor and manage a UPS or network of devices, and some users prefer to build their own systems. The DIYer can code specific action and power threshold alerts with their own interface.

Network UPS Tools (NUT)

NUT provides a common protocol and set of tools to monitor and manage power devices, including UPSs, PDUs, Automatic Transfer Switches, Power Supply Units and more. The open source, do-it-yourself approach to management allows users to customize parameters to their needs.

  • Common protocol and set of tools to monitor and manage power devices
  • Free and open source code that can be edited for customization
  • Collaborative community offers insight into new perspectives

Enterprise czar

The enterprise czar oversees data centers or server operations and is responsible for large amounts of data and services, including power management. Even though many systems may be automated, it's imperative they have 7x24 access to power conditions from anywhere in the world.

Brightlayer Data Centers suite

The Brightlayer Data Centers suite is a portfolio of digital solutions that enable efficient management of increasingly complex ecosystem of IT and operational technology (OT) assets, providing full system visibility into distributed infrastructure so users can keep your operation running and spend more time on what needs to be accomplished.

  • Manage power and automate equipment at the device level, mitigate disaster, reduce downtime and identify the root-cause of unexpected issues to increase operational effectiveness
  • Experience data pushed to the cloud securely and with confidence. Brightlayer works with Microsoft Azure, SDK and other cloud connectors to carry out complex analyses in the cloud, virtually in real-time
  • Access millions of data points at the edge of computing. Brightlayer quickly gathers data at the consumption point to calculate the core analytics that increase speed and dramatically reduce latency—leading to faster response times in applications that rely on real-time information
