Eaton Intelligent Inventory Program

The Eaton Intelligent Inventory (EII) program helps electric utilities optimize inventory and minimize related expenses.

What is the Eaton Intelligent Inventory (EII) program?

By streamlining the supply chain, the Eaton Intelligent Inventory (EII) program improves inventory management processes, resulting in more consistent lead times, optimum inventory levels and faster outage restoration. The EII team is comprised of Eaton employees who will leverage their knowledge of Eaton manufacturing processes and expert statistical analysis to customize a program that delivers exactly the service required.

EII program functional areas

  • E-Commerce: E-Commerce is the daily electronic transfer of data (inventory) between the customer and the EII program. This daily inventory data provides the information about the quantity of material on hand, on order, reserved for use and consumed at the customers location. The data can be communicated via EDI, XML, FTP, automated E-mail or by any other reliable electronic communication method.
  • Production planning: The EII software creates a statistical forecast that is shared with the customer and production scheduling. By reviewing the forecast and customer-supplied information on future requirements, an accurate picture of the future demand can be created. This information may be used to reserve production or to build material in advance.
  • Performance metrics: Performing monthly, quarterly, and/or yearly performance reviews allows for accountability and a process of continuous improvement. Typically, goals are established for turns and fill rate.
  • Replenishment management: Based upon service level performance goals defined by the customer, a set of rules for material replenishment is established. These rules are used by the EII replenishment software. The EII software then develops the best-case replenishment strategy at the material level to achieve the established goals at the lowest total cost. Additionally, day-today escalations including expedited shipment requests are quickly and easily handled by the EII team.

Emergency support

The Eaton Intelligent Inventory program also provides invaluable emergency support. EII is like having a dedicated team monitoring your inventory levels before, during and after emergencies like storms or natural disasters. With daily visibility into inventory levels, the EII analyst can quickly see which parts have suddenly been consumed and will work externally with the customer, and internally with production planners and the factories, to quickly get the right equipment delivered to the right crews to restore power faster.
