Our Adopt a School program provides comprehensive support to the government and low-income private schools. We focus on four broad components - nutrition and health of the students, school equipment, quality teaching and education plus activities. Drawing from the framework of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Eaton has designed various programs with specialized partner NGOs like iTeach, Vigyan Ashram and Plan India.
- iTeach schools - iTeach operates in English medium secondary schools in partnership with the Pune Municipal Corporation. The organization brings in the best teachers and most innovative methods to ensure sustained academic growth of these children as well as their creative expression, sports and literary aspects for overall development. Currently, Eaton supports two iTeach schools in Pune. Eaton and iTeach further support these students as they join junior colleges across the city and work towards becoming first college goers in their family.
- Plan India - With the aim of providing comprehensive support to schools, Eaton has expanded further by adding 20 schools to ‘Adopt a School’ program in Ahmednagar and Pondicherry, reaching out to over 10,000 students. The program ensures that the underprivileged children from the adopted schools develop holistically, with access to quality education and through safe and joyful learning environment. Eaton supports key developments in the school’s infrastructure like - building child friendly classrooms, remedial classes to promote age-appropriate learning level, sports capabilities, low-cost science labs, well equipped libraries, safe drinking water and basic hygiene and sanitation by upgrading toilet facilities.
- Vigyan Ashram - Promoting Science and Technology among students is a vital part of Eaton’s educational initiatives conducted as part of the company’s CSR programs. In this one-of-its-kind initiative, Eaton supports Vigyan Ashram to offer a one-year Diploma in Basic Rural Technology to 50 out-of-school youths with demonstrated scientific aptitude. These students are innovators in their own right – bringing forth ideas and actions – starting from designing solar incinerators to developing soil health score cards – filling the technology gap in rural setting.
