The Foundation’s Disability Inclusion Program provides equal opportunities to people with all forms of disability. It addresses the basic needs of people with disabilities by enabling employment, improving access to health and safe living spaces where they have the opportunity to fully participate in society. Under this initiative we currently work with Deaf Enabled Foundation and Sristi Village in Pondicherry.
- Deaf Enabled Foundation (DEF) is a charitable trust that aims to find solutions to the problems faced by the Deaf community. They provide the means to empower them to lead happy and productive lives, being fully integrated into the mainstream society. The team at DEF has been involved in training the Deaf persons in computer since 2009. Over the years, they have trained 3400 plus students through 8 centers. They are now focusing on expanding their operations to semi-urban and rural areas too, so that more Deaf persons can benefit from the program. Eaton supports their training center in Puducherry, impacting lives of 80 youth with hearing disability in a year.
- Srishti Foundation works towards the mission to enable persons with disabilities and other marginalized groups to live as independently as possible, through economic and social empowerment. Sristi has converted 9 acres of dry land to a working inclusive village, eco-care farm and special school where every member feels valued and can lead a dignified and holistic life. Sristi Village is an inclusive residential community which offers marginalized individuals and people with intellectual disabilities the chance to live, learn, work, and generate income; allowing them to reach their full potential. The village is currently home to 35 member and focusses on the health of the members. Since 2019, Eaton has supported Sristi in developing a food forest over 2 acres of land. The trees planted as part of the program not only create environmental impact but also it will help us to attain goal of creating self-sustaining community for children and people with intellectual disabilities.
